About this website

This website has existed in one form or another since 1998. Originally I published a personal website with my first ISP and another website, long gone. The content of the original personal site was my mums cats, my old car and my travels. It went through many versions of lots of content and not so much at other times.

Thing is, it drives me mad. I’ve used it to experiment with webdesign in a big way but the content troubles me, putting my stuff out there for all to see (or not see, but for the bots crawling it). Where does one draw the line in publishing content? In these days of social media where people post their dinner and their medical info for all to see (and now their sexual preferences even), what am I bleating about? There you have it… should one really publish ones life online? I think not.

So therefore this website ends up with much content: non-fiction, fiction, poems, articles – and then I delete it all, and repeat. So there comes a point one realises its a vicious circle and a waste of life. Therefore the site is what you see now. It may grow again. In the old days, like a 5 years back, more content on the site got more visits, that doesn’t appear to be the case anymore. Also, now, more content can get Google thinking 2+2=666 putting together text and deciding to restrict visits to that site. Not good for a writer who can have all sorts published on a site.

90% bounce rate. BTW, visits don’t mean engagement. My stats say that most are 100% bounce rate. What is “bounce rate”? It means that the visitor comes to the website and leaves straight away. Most of those are from China or such. It wasn’t always so, in the past there was lots of engagement and lots of visits. But, the internet gets bigger everyday. It’s good though as 10% do engage.

A point of note. Less people read. Google stopped making it easy to find websites. Who would come to this site? My books have my website address on, that will be most of my visits.

So, some of the stuff was moved off the site:
Jeepurs Devon Rex and Siamese

I may put more here ↑

In short: I don’t know if adding to this website is worth it. Maybe you the visitor could tell me?
